situating myself
Jordan Lelievre (they/she) is a white, queer, non-binary, disabled settler living on the stolen, ancestral, and unceded territories of the səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam) Nations.
Jordan’s experience in the non-profit sector has enhanced their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion work as well as facilitating trauma-informed connection grounded in social justice. They have worked in disability justice organizations doing archival research and developing workshops as well as a creative digital media agency working in the areas of harm reduction and social justice where they worked on the impact campaign for a documentary that connected climate justice social movements and assisted in community events, film screenings, and discussion panels.
They have been engaged in community organizing and activism for over five years mobilizing for transformative change and futurities of collective liberation. This work has been primarily in the areas of housing justice, workers’ rights, anti-racism, safe supply, environmental justice, and community care.
education
Jordan graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.A. in High Distinction in the Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice program. These studies equipped them with a strong foundation of knowledge in subjects including critical race theory, disability studies, intersectional feminism, Indigenous studies, international politics, sexuality studies, environmental justice, social policy, and community action.
They have taken seminars on social justice centred structural and policy analysis where they honed a lens for identifying complexities of social locations, power relations, ethical protocols, and transformative social justice within organizations. Jordan also studied abroad in Copenhagen at DIS in the Activism: Gender, Sexuality, and Race program giving them a global perspective on DEI issues.
